What this tool does
Add Page Numbers draws a number onto every page of your PDF, in the position, format, and starting value you choose, using the PDF's built-in Helvetica font — nothing is downloaded to render the text. Everything runs in your browser tab; there's no upload and no server.
How to use it
- Drop a PDF onto the box above.
- Choose a position, format, start number, and font size.
- Click Add Page Numbers to download the result.
Limitations
Password-protected PDFs are rejected rather than silently skipped. Numbers are drawn on top of the existing page content, so if a page already has printed numbers in the same spot, both will show.
Frequently asked questions
Can I start numbering from something other than 1?
Yes. Set the start number to whatever the first page should read — useful when this PDF is a chapter or section of a larger document.
Does this replace existing page numbers?
No. It draws new numbers on top of the page. If your PDF already has printed page numbers, you may end up with two.
